Managing Director and Head of Internal Audit for Financial Crimes, Compliance and Conduct , Morgan Stanley

Maura Kugler-Vasilescu, Managing Director, is a member of the Internal Audit Department’s senior leadership team and the Head of three Morgan Stanley audit groups that provide global coverage: Legal & Compliance; Human Resources (HR); and Company Administration. Her Legal and Compliance team focuses on audit-related activities to evaluate Morgan Stanley’s financial crimes, compliance, conduct and legal internal control environment, including anti-money laundering, sanctions, Bank Secrecy Act, and broker-dealer surveillance and testing processes. Her HR team provide global coverage related to Human Resources, organizational culture and conduct, business continuity and resiliency. She also oversees certain coverage of third-party risk management related to vendors. Maura is the co-chair of the Internal Audit Department’s Women’s Initiative and is active in Internal Audit’s campus recruiting.

Maura has been with Morgan Stanley for 12 years. Prior to joining Internal Audit in 2013, Maura was part of the Firm’s Finance division, where she was the CFO for the Banking and Lending Products business within the Private Banking Group. Maura joined Morgan Stanley from J.P. Morgan, where she was a key member of the Private Bank Strategy Team and the firm’s Internal Audit Department in London, Asia and New York. Maura began her career as a bank examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and has more than 20 years of experience as a financial services industry professional.
