Managing Director, Head of Anti-Money Laundering, Morgan Stanley

MATTHEW KNAPP is a Managing Director and head of the Anti-Money Laundering programs for the Americas at Morgan Stanley. In this role Matt leads the AML teams covering Wealth Management, Institutional Securities, Investment Management and the National and Private Banks.  Matt joined Morgan Stanley in 1994, serving in various roles in the Insurance and Annuities business. In 1997 he joined the Legal and Compliance Division and has led several functions within the Compliance Department during his tenure; including surveillance, branch exams and operations compliance. Matt has also served as the Chief Compliance Officer of the Firm’s registered investment advisers and managed the compliance coverage for the Investment Products and Services business within Wealth Management.  In 2005, Matt joined Citigroup where he established a compliance and risk management program for their institutional capital markets and investment banking business before rejoining Morgan Stanley in 2006.
