Gerald J. Russello

Gerald is a partner in Sidley’s New York office.  A former SEC Enforcement lawyer, Gerald regularly advises banks and broker-dealers on AML and other securities enforcement issues, and has represented financial institutions in AML enforcement actions.  He served as counsel in one of the few AML FINRA hearings, where he lead the successful defense of a clearing firm.   Prior to joining Sidley, Gerald served as a managing director in the legal department of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc., where he managed significant litigations and regulatory matters and was a member of the firm’s Suspicious Activity Report Committee.  He speaks often on AML and securities enforcement issues, and is co-author of Securities Litigation and Enforcement (West, 2016).
