G. Donald Steel is the CEO and President of Planned Investment Company, an advisory firm in Indianapolis, IN that opened in 1958. Mr. Steel is also a director for Moloney Securities, Inc. after a merger in 2018. Mr. Steel has been a producing manager since 1980 and the firm’s President since 1987. Planned Investment conducts mutual fund and variable annuity direct business and clears listed business through RBC Correspondent Services, Inc. Mr. Steel was a member of the FINRA Board of Governors from 2007-2010 and was the District Chairman of the NASD District 8 Committee in 1992. He is an industry arbitrator for FINRA and is a past member of the FINRA Small Firm Advisory Board. He also served on the FINRA Membership Committee, the Net Capital Task Force and the Small Firm Business Continuity Task Force. While on the FINRA Board of Governors he served on the Regulatory Policy, Nominating and Governance, NYSE Merger and Executive Committees. He served as a Director of the FINRA Investors Education Foundation from 2012-2017. He graduated the U.S. Naval Academy in 1975 and flew in five Navy Patrol Squadrons over a thirty-year active and reserve career. He retired in 2002 as a Captain after commanding Patrol Squadron 64 in Philadelphia. He is the past Chairman of three United Way Boards, including The Salvation Army. He chaired the building of the USS INDIANAPOLIS (CA-35) National Memorial and was a past National Vice President of the Navy League.
Mr. Steel was chairman of the SIFMA Small Firms Committee from 2013-2014. He served on the SIFMA Board of Directors from 2011-2014, and the SIFMA Advisory Council from 2016-2018.
