Brian Sack is Director of Global Economics for the D. E. Shaw group and a member of the firm’s macro trading unit. Prior to joining the D. E. Shaw group in 2013, Mr. Sack was an executive vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he served as the head of the Markets Group and the manager of the Federal Reserve’s System Open Market Account from 2009 to 2012. In that role, Brian oversaw the implementation of the asset purchase programs and many of the liquidity programs launched by the Federal Reserve during the financial crisis. Before that time, he had worked at Macroeconomic Advisers, a private sector consulting firm, and at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington DC. Mr. Sack earned his Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997.
