Barry R. Goldsmith

Barry Goldsmith is a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and co-head of the firm’s Securities Enforcement Practice Group. Mr. Goldsmith’s practice focuses on the representation of broker dealers, investment advisers and public companies in SEC, DOJ, FINRA, and internal investigations. Mr. Goldsmith previously served as head of Enforcement at NASD (now FINRA)and before that served as Chief Litigation Counsel at the SEC, where he was responsible for all enforcement litigation brought by the agency.
Mr. Goldsmith has consistently been ranked in Band 1 by Chambers USA as one of the top Securities Regulation attorneys nationwide and was named Best Lawyers’ 2016 and 2018 Securities Regulation “Lawyer of the Year” for New York City.
Mr. Goldsmith is a frequent speaker on securities enforcement and regulatory issues. He received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He graduated magna cum laude in economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
