SIFMA's Cross-Border Policy and Advocacy team concentrates its advocacy efforts on the harmonization of global regulatory reform proposals.
Enhance the environment for capital formation and investment by helping to open, strengthen, and develop world-class global markets and financial centers. Work in close coordination with SIFMA’s global affiliate, the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA).
The Committee provides a strong mix of research, advocacy, and targeted outreach to U.S. and foreign government officials across the full range of issues and regions relevant to global securities firms. Work falls into three broad categories, which together comprise market opening and market enhancing initiatives, efforts focused internationally, and efforts that are cross-border by nature:
Opening global markets;
Strengthening investment and regulatory climate in all markets for firms and their customers; and
Addressing international regulatory differences and disputes by promoting consistent regulation and legislation globally.
