AFMA Annex I to GMRA

The Australian Financial Market Association (AFMA) has published the new AFMA Annex I to each of the GMRA 1995 & 2000. The new AFMA Annex I has been endorsed by TBMA and ISMA. The new Annex is designed to cover Australian domestic repo transactions in Australian dollar denominated securities which are documented under either the GMRA 1995 or 2000.

The new AFMA Annex I suggests elections that reflect current Australian market practices in repo transactions under the GMRA 1995 & 2000. Members should individually determine whether the AFMA Annex I adequately meets their requirements.

The previous version of the AFMA Annex I to the 1995 GMRA remains valid and can continue to be used to document repos under the GMRA 1995.

AFMA has published the new Annex I in its "Guide to OTC Documents" accompanied by a supplemental legal opinion regarding the effect of the AFMA Annex I on the GMRA 1995 & 2000. Such opinion does not constitute legal or other professional advice to TBMA or its members and cannot be relied on as such by them. TBMA encourages its members to read it for purposes of additional information.
