Promissory Notes: Promises, Problems

This brochure, produced jointly by the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA), the National Association of Securities Dealers Regulation (NASD), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and SIFMA, outlines the risks and rewards of investing in promissory notes. Investors learn what to consider in evaluating whether promissory notes are sound investments. Concrete examples illustrate the kinds of scams that have cost some investors their life savings.
