The Human Resources Management Committee of the Securities Industry Association has created this “Handbook for Strategic Hiring” to enhance the selection process for you and all your hiring managers. Hiring right the first time by selecting the most qualified candidates reduces turnover, saves replacement costs and improves morale.
This handbook includes:
I. Core Competencies
This section of the Handbook provides complete explanations of the various competencies necessary for success in the financial services industry. These competencies help distinguish an average performance from a truly superior performance in each of the twelve benchmark jobs.
II. Position Descriptions
This section of the Handbook provides in-depth descriptions of twelve positions which benchmark financial services. By benchmark, we mean those jobs which have similar characteristics, are performed in a similar manner and which exist in the majority of firms. Each Position Description includes the Job Title, a space for reporting relationships, a Basic Objective/Summary of the Position, Essential Functions and Responsibilities, and a section for Other Responsibilities or Information.
III. Interview Question Library
The Interview Question Library contains behavioral questions designed to help you identify whether a candidate possesses the competencies critical for success in a benchmark job. A suggested rating scale is also included for candidate assessment by multiple interviewers.
