Many Wall Street firms have developed summer intern programs to temporarily hire the best and brightest students in the country.

Summer internships provide students with an opportunity to work in an area that will interest them, and solid direction for their future career. Firms draw summer interns from a number of sources, such as on-campus recruiting, employee referrals, and other, local programs. Interns are employed in many firm departments, such as:

  • Private Client Services
  • Finance and Research
  • Operations and Service
  • Compliance and Legal
  • Information Technology
  • Human Resources
  • Capital Markets

Interns can expect to be challenged and rewarded while exploring job opportunities in the securities industry.

If you’re interested in being a summer intern, start early. Send your resume in December or January. Firms begin contacting prospective interns as early as February. Based on preference and academic background, internship offers are generally made in March, and programs begin in early May, lasting 10-12 weeks.
