Create an Affinity Relationship With SIFMA

From time-to-time, SIFMA enters into relationships with vendors to promote their product/service to SIFMA's membership.

Typically affinity relationships are filling a need for SIFMA and its membership and they provide substantial discounts below what a member can achieve on its own. Sometimes, these offerings are targeting a specific audience depending on the product/service.

There is a committee comprised of SIFMA members that will review all proposals submitted. It is strongly recommended that you have the backing of an SIFMA member prior to submitting a proposal. Your proposal should address: brief overview of your product/service, the benefits to SIFMA and its membership, outline your concept of an affinity relationship and include a proposed schedule and include the name of the SIFMA member along with their contact information.

Please submit your proposal to Art Trager and Ellen Bloomstone.

Regional Research Exchange and Research Network

The Regional Research Exchange is an informal coalition of regional firms that provides members access to a large and more diverse pool of research than would otherwise be possible.  Each participating firm designates a key contact that sends monthly statistical reports to other members of the Exchange on a regular basis. The contact also answers participant questions about the firm's research. In turn, this Exchange is part of a larger Research Network, which is open to research directors, research managers, compliance directors, and senior managers of all SIFMA-member firms. The Research Network is an electronic email roster, set up to keep members apprised of developments in the regulatory, supervisory, legislative, and technological areas that affect those who manage securities research operations.  There is no charge for membership on these rosters.

Tech/Operations Programs

The Association is involved in a wide range of activities aimed at streamlining processes and procedures within the securities industry.  Projects address issues raised by member firms and include regulatory, procedural, legal, technical and tax matters.  The eleven autonomous SIFMA Divisions play an important role in this area as do several SIFMA standing committees, such as Capital, Clearing Firms, Operations, Technology Management and Tax Compliance and Administration.  Examples of operations activities include Operations Committee meetings with various regulators to discuss pending regulations such as issuer mailings, direct registration, order audit trail, Year 2000 industry wide testing guidelines, the development of New York City area private line voice and data communications networks (Verizon), and Internet access (Verizon) services.  Many more specialized but critically important issues are addressed through this comprehensive, flexible and responsive volunteer effort, supported by SIFMA staff.  Educational programs include the annual Operations, Technology Management, Operations Update conferences.
