BACKGROUND
SIFMA is active in addressing issues that affect the equity options businesses of member firms. SIFMA’s Options Committee includes a cross-section of options industry professionals, including members from full service broker-dealers, specialist/market making firms, and regional and local brokers.
Through the Committee, SIFMA monitors regulation and legislation affecting options and provides information about the options industry to regulators, Congress, and the general public. SIFMA is also involved in issues relating to market structure and investor protection in the options markets including best execution, options market linkage, and payment for order flow. SIFMA is also playing a leading role in the implementation of the pilot program for quoting options in pennies.
