What is SIFMA-PAC?
SIFMA-PAC is the political action committee for the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. SIFMA-PAC is a vital part of SIFMA’s government affairs program. The PAC has proven to be an effective mechanism to advancing the interests of the financial services industry on Capitol Hill.
Where does my contribution go?
SIFMA-PAC is a voluntary, non-partisan committee that raises funds for the campaigns of members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. SIFMA’s PAC money goes towards educating policymakers, promoting our advocacy efforts and supporting those Members of Congress who understand the importance of a healthy, vigorous, and robust financial services industry. Federal election laws prohibit corporations from contributing directly to a candidate; therefore PAC dollars are a critical source of funding for candidates. SIFMA-PAC does not support candidates running for state or local elective offices.
How does SIFMA-PAC decide which candidates to support?
SIFMA-PAC is your link to Capitol Hill. One hundred percent of your contribution supports candidates from both political parties who care about strong, competitive financial markets. Worthy candidates are selected through strict review of their:
- Alignment with SIFMA’s legislative agenda and priorities;
- Platform and voting records on issues important to the industry;
- Leadership on key committees of importance to SIFMA’s member firms;
- Financial need; and
- Potential for election success.
