On July 20, 2010 SIFMA hosted a call for its Municipal Securities Division members to discuss the implications of securities regulatory reform on the municipal market. Two prominent legal experts briefed the group.  Paul S. Maco, Partner at Vinson & Elkins LLP, discussed   issues in the bill related to MSRB authority and composition, expansion of the SEC's Office of Municipal Securities, regulation of FAs and related issues.  David L. Taub, Partner at McDermott Will &   Emery LLP, discussed issues related to municipal swaps and other derivatives. Click here, to listen to an MP3 of the call.

Ryan OpEd: No More Business As Usual

In an opinion piece in The Washington Post, SIFMA President and CEO Tim Ryan noted that while recent proposals by the Obama Administration have been wrapped in rhetoric suggesting the financial services industry hasn't changed.
