In recent years, a number of state attorneys general (AG) have proposed legislation expanding their jurisdiction or broadening their authority over consumer fraud statutes.
Position:
SIFMA strongly opposes expanding the authority of state attorneys general to include enforcement of securities statutes.
Status:
While many state attorneys general have proposed legislation expanding their jurisdiction, no legislation has been formally introduced.
