SIFMA Foundation's InvestWrite essay competition, sponsored by McGraw Hill Financial, honored its four national winners with a "Wall Street Experience" on June 23-24 in New York City. The program challenges students in grades 4-12 to analyze an investment scenario and recommend portfolio allocations that target short and long term financial goals. The writing competition is a culminating activity for the 600,000 students who compete nationwide in the Stock Market Game program each year.
The four winners, two from the middle school division and two from the high school division, were chosen among 20,000 submissions for their ability to analyze, think critically and problem solve real world financial issues in their essays. Submissions were judged rigorously by thousands of teachers and industry professionals, including several Invest It Forward volunteers, based on students' understanding of key financial factors and components as well as their writing ability.
By participating in financial literacy programs like InvestWrite, today's students learn vital life skills they will need to become contributors to society tomorrow. Congratulations to all participants for a great job in this year's competition!
