The Stock Market Game's carefully integrated curriculum lets students experience the financial markets in the classroom as they learn math, economics, social studies and the importance of saving and investing for the long term. Since its inception in 1977, nearly 12 million students in elementary, middle and high school have taken part in this real-world learning experience that enables teams of 3-5 students research, buy, sell, and trade a $100,000 portfolio of stocks, bonds and mutual funds at real-time prices, practicing teamwork, communication and leadership in the process.
The national essay competition, InvestWrite a culminating activity for Stock Market Game participants, requires students to draw on logic, critical thinking, and writing skills to demonstrate how concepts learned in the classroom enable them to respond to a specific real-world investing situation. Exciting prizes awarded to top students, their teachers and their classrooms help all students develop a high regard for educational achievement in this competitive program. State Treasurers Gateway Initiative Partnership and Network - This partnership of the SIFMA Foundation and the National Association of State Treasurers Foundation and its more than 40 State Treasurers provides state-based financial resources and tools for adults through websites, e-newsletters, publications and seminars.
