On Monday, June 20th, SIFMA AMG sent a supplementary comment letter to the CFTC in regards to their Proposal on Position Limits for Derivatives.  This letter was filed to reinforce points made by the AMG in a letter submitted on Position Limits on March 28th.  The supplementary letter advocates that common ownership (i.e. related affiliates) should not necessitate the requirement to aggregate positions across entities towards any position limit.  This mandate completely disregards independent management that frequently exists and the separate investment objectives across entities.  In addition, there is a major practical concern regarding information sharing between affiliates – doing so may require a breach of fiduciary duty.

CCP Offering Matrix

The AMF Derivatives Operations Committee has put together this CCP Offering Matrix, that covers the following Central Counterparty Platforms: ICE US, Ice Clear Europe, CME for credit, CME for rates, LCH SCM, LCH US model, IDCG, and Eurex Clearing Credit, Interest, and Equity Clear.  The purpose of this matrix is to help asset managers navigate the new derivatives clearing environment as derivatives clearing becomes mandatory. The matrix describes the offering of each platform, and provides answers to buy side clearing questions that were developed by the AMF Derivatives Operations Committee. The questions are grouped into product offering, offering status, trade procedures, systems, pricing, risk, margin/collateral, market/credit events, default process, legal, membership and additional questions.
