SIFMA Submits Supplemental Response to the SEC on the Framework for Rulemaking under the Fiduciary Duty Provision of the Dodd-Frank Act
SIFMA provides a supplemental filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on developing a framework for rulemaking under Section 913 (Fiduciary Duty) of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act), File No. 4-604. SIFMA responds to several points raised in a recent letter from the Consumer Federation of America (CFA), among others, that discusses SIFMA’s July 2011 framework for rulemaking under Section 913. SIFMA describes key similarities in its views and those expressed in the CFA Letter and key differences between those views with the hope in developing an approach to Section 913 that best protects investors and preserves investor choice.

SIFMA’s Member Engagement team is responsible for the recruitment, retention and engagement of firm and individual members through SIFMA and SIFMA’s Professional Societies. We are seeking a Vice President of Member Engagement to manage key aspects of the Association’s corporate membership recruitment efforts including, but not limited to:
- Working with SIFMA senior management to design and execute a comprehensive membership recruitment strategy;
- Building membership through recruitment of new members;
- Reporting to SIFMA’s Board of Directors and senior management on developments and opportunities in member recruitment;
- Developing data and reports on member recruitment initiatives;
- Coordinating with other senior professionals on engagement and retention initiatives;
- Identifying member prospects and potential new classes of membership;
- Responding to membership inquires from prospects and following up on leads;
- Managing and developing member engagement support staff;
- Developing and managing affinity programs to help attract non-members; and

SIFMA's Pennsylvania + Wall Blog on "FATCA, Mortgages, China: A Busy Week for SIFMA"
This past week, SIFMA and representatives of our member firms testified (or submitted testimony) on many important issues—this blog post highlights three. First, Nicole Tanguy, Director and Tax Counsel at Citigroup Inc testified on behalf of SIFMA before the Internal Revenue Service on the need to push back some compliance deadlines for implementing the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) from 2013 to 2014. In addition, SIFMA submitted testimony to the Conference Committee of the California State Legislature outlining serious concerns with pending mortgage servicing legislation. Finally, SIFMA’s David Strongin testified before the House Financial Services Subcommittee on International Monetary Policy and Trade on market access in China and progress made in the Strategic & Economic Dialogue (S&ED) on how to ensure a level playing field for SIFMA member firms currently doing business in China.
