Senior Oversight Group (SOG) Update for Dealers, Investors and Custodians: Advancements in Derivatives Processing Significant growth in the derivatives markets has led to a need to modernize the method by which operations professionals at financial services firms process and account for these instruments. With the advent of the Trade Information Warehouse and supporting infrastructure, broker-dealers, asset managers and hedge funds can rely on an electronic repository to maintain pertinent information relating to credit default swaps and, in the future, other derivative products. The Warehouse marks a change in industry business practices, which market participants, vendors and custodians appear ready to embrace. These industry advancements in derivatives processing are driven by the Senior Oversight Group (SOG), which suggests overall strategy for the Street, thereby ensuring that the industry is in a position to meet its commitments to various regulators. The SOG panel will provide the most up-to-date information on the Warehouse and where the sell side, buy side and custodians stand in order to maximize their OTC derivatives operations capabilities.
